NYC sights

It’s been two weeks, I apologize. And busy is not a good enough excuse, I know.  Oh gosh, I gotta start from the 4th of July eh.. I didn’t take photos actually :/

My first 4th of July! And I was at the Brooklyn Bridge Park (which apparently didn’t have a very good view of the fireworks). It was a long day, I had work that day so I didn’t wanna spend so much time killing my brain cells thinking of where to go. Verdict: Brooklyn Bridge Park it is!

A week later, I met up with a Malaysian friend, Amelia.

My goodness, the meal was incredible. I can’t stop thinking of the blueberry pie – which was the pie of the day. Amelia told me the pecan pie is absolutely delicious and yes, I’m definitely going back to try it. 2 weeks later and I’m still thinking about that meal, definitely the first place I’d go to celebrate getting a job *crosses fingers

Amelia and I decided to do a little touring around the city after lunch and guess where we went..

Yes, we went to see animals. I love seeing animals being so fat, it means that they’re being fed so well *cough unlike the ones I saw back home cough*

They are so so cute!

Just look at them!

And penguin land was adorable. They’re all so fat!

Now tell me you wanna bring them back and cuddle them to bed. If it doesn’t eat you, of course.

About 2 weekends ago, I had the best surprise. Wasn’t a huge thing where I got flowers or some super hot and cute guy popped up at my doorstep. Hey hey, a girl can only dream huh.

My Chandler and Joey ❤

I got a call from these two ❤ You have no idea how much I miss them. 10 years and I still love them both to bits. I love seeing them both quarreling and teasing each other, they seriously look like a couple when they do that #meanttobe

Then I headed out on my journey. To the New York Botanical Garden in Bronx.

The picture says it all lol

It will take me forever to get there if I took the subway so I tried the Metro North train where I boarded on from Grand Central Terminal and it takes about 20 mins to get there. Unfortunately the Metro Card doesn’t work for this train so tickets have to be purchased.

This sandwich is so worth my $8.50. I enjoyed eating it so much while on the train! You see how full the sandwich is? There’s just so much ingredients in it. Don’t get me wrong, I feel that $8.50 is expensive for a sandwich in general (c’mon nothing in NYC is cheap) but the reason why I said it’s worth it is because I have come across an $8.50 “sandwich” which has only a few pieces of ham and cheese. Just ham and cheese. Nothing else. Imo, that sandwich is expensive af, hence I felt like this sandwich is worth every penny.

So 20 mins later, I reached the garden. Then was when I almost got a heart attack.

YOU GOTTA PAY TO ENTER THE GARDEN?? WHAT?? HOW DID I MISS THAT?? Okay fine, since I already bought my train ticket here, I can’t not enter.. Pay la pay la.. WOAH WHAT?? $28?? TWENTY FREAKING EIGHT DOLLARS? Wtf this garden made of gold meh. It’s just a huge piece of land with grass and a few fancy places like:

The Rose Garden. It definitely isn’t worth $28. However, I remembered that I’ve got this City Pass card that my mum’s friend lend me so I got in for free! Phew. Thank god. That totally saved my pocket. NYC taught me that there is no such thing as budget activities. No matter how much try, you definitely will be spending money without expecting it.

Ok now I’m gonna talk about how NYC has disappointed me AGAIN. *drum roll please*

See how many people were crowding around and disrupting traffic?

I really can’t blame the drivers for being so impatient. Note: this is understandable when drivers honk non stop and not randomly honk just because the car in front took 2 seconds longer to move after the traffic light turns green. Tsk.

Hmm.. Where’s the sun? Why do I not see the sun? Where’s the absolutely stunning view everyone’s waiting for?? Oh no, why do I see people leaving? The guys with huge fancy cameras are walking away with their tripods!

Yep, Manhattanhenge 2017 is a disappointment. Again.

So in my last post I shared a photo of a couple and their bridesmaids and groomsmen in Central Park. Guess what?

It’s pretty cool to have wedding pictures/videos in New York City’s famous landmarks, pretty mainstream but who cares, right?

22 April 2017

So this is it!

Flight to JFK, NEW YORK CITY. Oh goodness me, 24 hours before we reach. Of course this isn’t a problem because Shuana can sleep anywhere, thank goodness for that.

So the flight was at 1030am, which means we had to leave our house by 7am to reach the airport by 8am. We took Cathay Pacific which means we’ll be stopping over at Hong Kong for an hour and a half before flying off to New York (woohoo!)

I got up at 5am that morning to take a nice shower in my comfy bathroom for one last time (and I’m missing it already) and got ready by 630am. The biggest surprise came at around that time when the doorbell rang and my dad said “Shuana, your friends are here.”

What? Who? Why?

And that’s why you dress nicely when you’re heading over to the airport and then change into sweatpants after – just in case you need to take photos.

Ashley was supposed to be at my place but she couldn’t wake up haha. Why am I not surprised. But these girls have done enough for me, we’ve hung out enough the past few weeks, I know it wasn’t easy to get all of them to take out time for me especially Charis, she’s the busiest bee. So thank you, my loves!

I couldn’t decide which gif was nicer so.. both it is!

When I reached the airport and pushing my trolley full of bags, someone suddenly came up to me, “Hey miss, would you like some help with your luggage?”

Hehe love his shirt!

Absolutely love this guy, the nicest friend and the closest friend who will always be there when I need a shoulder to cry on.

And of course, my best friend and Foo came to see me off. They were late though and I had to go in to the immigration counter already. Managed to ask for 10 mins from my parents to say hi/bye to them. Having to go in early was really unexpected, never thought KLIA would be so full of people!

These are the closest friends I’ve got and I’m so glad I got to see them just before I left. Unfortunately, my favorite Indian and chef couldn’t make it because they were working that morning.

And then, we left KL to start a whole new journey and to explore a brand new city. The biggest and most amazing city in the world.

Bye, my loves ❤

New York, we’ll get along just fine.

T-2 weeks

Oh I missed a week! Which should not be an excuse since last week was the most unproductive week I’ve had since I resigned.

I was just mostly meeting up with friends and been stuck to my iPad/laptop watching The Originals, damnit iflix!

Oh I find these siblings real hot and not to mention, they’ve got a sexy accent

I’ve been hooked onto iflix because it just wouldn’t stop playing the next episode. I completed 2 seasons of the show Younger (starring Hilary Duff aka Lizzie McGuire) in 2 nights! Would love to talk more about the show because I enjoyed it so much but I digress. So today I’ll just be giving a recap on how the past 2 weeks were for me.

1. I did some touristy stuff but that’ll be in a different blog post altogether, gotta compile my KL adventure before I leave!

In two hours of this movie, I conclude that Emma Watson is extremely beautiful and she’s perfect for Belle (but it doesn’t make her the best actress) and this movie is exactly the same as the cartoon, me likey.

3. Coffee with this guy turned into stuffing myself with meat and ice cream for at least an hour and a half, the meal was a real torture.

Taking the MRT is just not the same without him 😦
4. My Pooh-girls gave me a surpise!

They actually gave me a journal/notebook with messages from each of them and a photo of us in a photo frame but I’m not gonna post a picture of that because I look horrible in all the photos they printed out! Except for the one above, it’s the nicest picture of me that they chose. That aside, I was really touched they went through so much to do that for me. I was so blur I didn’t even notice they were passing the gifts back and forth under the table and took turns to “use the washroom” in order to write the messages in the book.

I love this photo because Charis looks the most attractive *giggles

Charis saved me the best seat – the perfect view of the Twin Towers and we had a good night laughing and having wine together. A real shame we started dinner late so the night had to end early.

5. Her Royal Highness is finally back! And this time, to see me!

It was so nice to spend half a day AND the whole night with this one.

One dinner together obviously isn’t enough but I’m glad it happened with these three. Of course we spent our entire time together after dinner taking silly pictures and Boomerangs.

6. “I trust you enough to put my health in your hands, doctor.”

I’m gonna miss our meet ups and hearing all about med school from him
7. Me, Lynn, Delia, Ziyun and Chloe + Kexin, Eddie, Amanda and Daniel

The weirdest combination for dinner, the least photos I’ve taken with people I’ve wanted to meet and the nicest I’ve dressed up for a meal so far (and not have many photos taken boo).

I finally got a haircut!
9. I’ve never been an hour and a half late, turns out they weren’t kidding when they said they had two cocktails while waiting for me, oops.

Seems like the past two weeks wasn’t exactly the most unproductive, I got to spend time with the people I will miss lots, especially this bunch. Eugene was extra bitchy to me that night but I assume he just can’t accept that I’m leaving THAT soon, I know he’ll miss me.

Two more weeks to go. Packing is coming along just fine, slow but fine. I’m not sure whether I’ve said this before but I’m really excited but at the same time, super nervous and scared. I guess this is what starting over feels.
